The Week in Review

There are some weeks when I feel like I just don’t have anything special to write about to my kids. Maybe there was (mercifully) no drama that week, no special occasions that warranted photographing, no break in our extracurricular routine. Or maybe it’s that, on those weeks, my battery for recognizing the profound in the picayune was just flat-out depleted from exhaustion, distraction, or stress.

Those weeks - and those weeks are common - I just try to sit down on a Sunday evening, and recount what I can about the week. What’d we eat for dinner. What clothes did they wear to school. How’d we spend our Saturday. I sometimes think about this as - and even label the subject line - a “Week in Review.”

My intent with this blog is to provide inspiration about potentially interesting and unique topics to write about, but that doesn’t mean that every note needs to be a revelation. In a lot of ways, the commitment to the writing is more important than the content of the writing.

So don’t get in your head about what might or might not be worthwhile writing about. With the cost now so low and the payoff later so high, even an accounting of the minutiae of an uneventful week is a good investment.
