I’m not a die-hard Weezer fan, but I must say that they are a creative and clever bunch. Their new video, called ‘Pork and Beans’ features cameos by several YouTube celebrities (both human, such as Taye Zonday, and otherwise, such as this dramatic looking little prarie dog).

Besides the excellent self-referentialness of watching a music video about YouTube videos on YouTube, I think that this is a great example of the notion of ‘Convergence Culture’ — the notion that, as opposed newer forms of media simply replacing older ones, instead the two will commingle in such a way that it could even result in still newer forms of media (and on, and on, and on…). I haven’t yet gotten around to reading this book of the same name by Henry Jenkins, but it’s on my list….
